I have a right to bare arms to protect myself, yet my misdemeanor conviction states that I can't purchase a gun -- an erosion of basic American rights. A psychologist should make this assessment if anything, but still that is not liberty. I don't personally want a gun, but the prospect that it may protect me is indeed tempting. But am I protected under law?
