Mental illnesses interest me. They always have. Addiction is a mental illness. We need to take hold of this drug, control its distribution like alcohol and tobacco. Those systems work.

"Cannabis use among Ontario adults has almost doubled since 1977, from 8 percent to 14 percent in 2005, Science Daily reported April 14."

"On the positive side, tobacco smoking rates are at historic lows and rates of drinking and driving are the lowest on record."

Help put an end to this. Legalize marijuana so the capitalist market can take over, and age limits can be instituted. Don't confuse marijuana with some magical commodity that avoids the legal market and thrives as a black market. It's not logical. Drug dealers will try to sell their low quality herb, but people will prefer high quality supplies instead. The drug dealers will either win the lottery of entrepreneurial business and make it big in life legally, or they'll pick up harder drugs to sell. Either way, you've severed the connection marijuana has with hard drugs, and protected the mental health of our posterity. I think that is more important than catching the so called crooks. This is about protecting the children and our posterity. You can't eliminate a black market by any other means but to cut off its cash flow. You jail 100 drug dealers, and 100 drug dealers pop up in their place. Marijuana use is going up, not down.
