There's a clear distinction between Religion and Spirituality. Some may refuse to see it, but it's there. I officially consider myself Southern Baptist. I'm also interested in science and believe in the Big Bang Theory. Quantum Physics, thermodynamics, cosmology - it's all there; it's proof as far as I'm concerned. I also feel the Bible explains what happened. It's symbolic, but it's there. I believe in Calvary and the Second Coming of Christ. You have to understand my position on Creationism. I think Religion needs to open up to the notion that science is a reality. Nature is the proof. Mind and Body are the proof. My Soul is proof of a greater being, a creator.
The reason I bring up Spirituality is that I feel it lacks the respect it deserves. Without it there would be no Religion. My Old Testament course taught me an important thing about the Bible. It was designed primarily for the People, and only secondly for organized Religion. I think it's time we start fighting for individual freedom of spiritual expression. If my dis-ease causes me to avoid church on Sunday morning, that is not something I can help. I can't be apart of any Religion because they are social assemblages. One can not force another to be apart of social gatherings. So today I'm taking a stand for my individuality and spirit.
